6 Tips For A Better Social Video Strategy

Hello friends! Today I want to share with you some advice for your social video content.

I totally understand that when you’re first starting out & trying to build your personal brand or business, that there can be so much noise and you can easily feel overwhelmed.

My hope is that this blog post is easy for you to follow-along with so that you aren’t overwhelmed in the slightest but know exactly how you can improve your social video content & strategy.

1.) Remember, shareable content runs on emotion.
– The first ten seconds of a video is a crucial time to draw someone in & play on their emotions. If you’re going to share a video to Facebook & you want that content to be re-shared to bring awareness to your brand or business, you have to understand your audience well enough to know what will capture their attention & play on their emotions the best. I personally love Ben Lionel Scott’s motivational videos. Whenever I watch his videos, I have goosebumps running up my arms because my emotions are so drawn into his content. That is the type of feel you want to create!

2.) People want in on the conversation.
– People want to feel at home in the walls of your business or that they have a place in your personal brand online. You can have your audience interact through comments, private/public Facebook groups, put out polls or have them send in questions for Q&A’s! I’ve even asked my audience for their help in choosing product designs! So if you have a new product or service coming out soon, ask your people for their feedback!

3.) Keep them wanting more!
– Put out teaser photos & video clips about new projects, products or services that you’re working on behind the scenes! This will keep your audience actively engaged on social media because they want to see/hear about the end result!

4.) Remember the search engines!
– Don’t forget how important SEO, Titles & Tags if you want to show up in search results!

5.) Track Your Analytics
– This is crucial to your success online! Analytics give you a social advantage on your audience. You can understand what content of yours is doing really well on specific platforms & what content isn’t. You can come up with a better strategy & game plan when you can see the overall big picture.

6.) Ask yourself, “is this the type of content I’d want to consume myself?”
– If you want your ideal client to engage with the content you’re producing, you need to put yourself in their shoes. If you were scrolling on Instagram would you take the time to read this caption? Does this picture or video capture your attention? Would you re-share this particular piece of content? Would you want to see more of this?

I hope these tips help you continue to build a brand & business that you love.

How to Make a YouTube Video

There is so much noise out in the world today, that we can easily feel overwhelmed or confused about what content to consume, who we should listen to or what steps we should take next for our business!

In this blog post I’m going to be sharing with you follow-along-steps to creating a video for YouTube!

Step 1: Do your research

– Get your creative juices flowing by looking up what video you would like to create! If you’re going to film a video called “how to sell your home in 30 days,” make sure to search for that video title in the YouTube search bar so that you can see who has the highest ranking video/channel regarding that topic. It might even be helpful to watch their video to see why people seem to like it so much. You could find ways to stand out from the competition if you look into what they’re doing right and what they’re doing wrong.

Step 2: Create an SEO brief

– Your brief should include intentional ideas for your video title that would really inspire someone to click & watch, a thorough description that you will use in the YouTube description box to explain what you’re video is all about, & several tag ideas to help you show up in search results. (Read more about tags here.)

Step 3: Write your script

– Start your script with an intro stating who you are & what you do. Continue into your main talking points/content. It’s super helpful to include bullet-points so that it’s easier for you to remember while recording! After you’re finished with the main content, lead into your outro but remember to include a call to action & remind your viewers to like, comment & subscribe!

Step 4: Film

– Ready, Set, Action! Time to film your video. Find a private space where you won’t be interuppted while recording. A helpful tip is to remember to face the light! You don’t want to be standing in front of a window or door. You want to be in front of them! You can choose to either film your video in smaller clips/bullet points and then string all the clips together during editing OR film your video straight through your script. Totally up to you!

Step 5: Edit

– Editing can be the most time consuming part of this process so make sure you block off a chunk of time during your day to get it just right. IMOVIE is a very popular editing software for beginners & Canva is a great site to use for graphics!

Step 6: Review

– After the editing process if finished, watch your video from beginning to end. This will help you catch any mistakes or see where some adjustments need to be made. Proofing is so important!

Step 7: Design your thumbnail

– Canva is a great site to design your YouTube thumbnails. Make sure your thumbnail stands out because remember, you want people to click on your video! This is your chance to grab their attention!

Step 8: Upload to YouTube

– Now it’s time to upload your hard work to the internet! This is also where you’ll upload your thumbnail, write out your title, tags & description.

Step 9: Share on Social Media

– Don’t stop after your video is on your channel! Share that hard work with your friends & family all over your social media accounts!

Step 10: Engage

– Be sure to reply to comments & answer any questions that people leave you! This will drive up your engagement rate!

I hope this content inspires you to continue to build a business or brand that you love!

How to tag your videos the RIGHT way.

Tagging is one of the most important ways to rank you video in YouTube search results.

Tags help users find your video when they search on the site. When users type keywords related to your tags your video will appear in the search results! How cool is that?

Your video title is also something to keep high on your priority list before uploading a video, because while the tags will get your video shown as an option for someone to watch, the title is what’s going to attract people to click & view!

A helpful tip for you is whatever the title of your YouTube video is, make sure you write it out as a tag too! An example being…

Title: “10 Ways To Grow Your Business”
Tag: ten ways to grow your business, grow your business, business growth advice, how to grow my business (ex…)

The YouTube algorithm does favor “signals” such as likes, comments, shares & retention rates to boost your video in the search results – but TAGS are the FIRST step to ranking your video.

Tagging advice:

1.) Don’t forget to BRAND IT!

– A few of your tags should me about who you are & what you do!
Here is an example of what this would look like…

2.) Look up what people are searching for & what results show up!

– Pretend you’re an everyday person looking for a solution on “how to clean my oven.”
Search for that video title in the YouTube Search Bar & see what video results are shown. You’ll be able to see what video/channel is ranking highest for that content & be able to decide how you’re going to stand out with your video about cleaning ovens.

3.) YouTube doesn’t have a tag limit!

– Good news. You can come up with as many intentional tags as you would like to! The only thing to keep in mind is your tags cannot exceed 500 characters. Once you use up the 500 letter limit, then you can’t include anymore tags.

I hope this video helps your video content continue to shine!

Focusing for Success in Business

DropMock : Focusing for Success in Business

If there’s one major thing that I’ve learned while creating DropMock, it’s that if you want to achieve success in business, you have to FOCUS.

Focusing 100% on a product, strategy or achievement is the BEST way to achieve the success you desire. However, it can also be the hardest thing to do. To help you to achieve this focus, I’ve put together my top 5 reasons for why having a single focus can be so hard, and how you can go about achieving this focus.

  1. When it gets tough, you can’t give up

When it gets tough (and there’s no doubt that it will), you can’t simply throw in the towel and admit defeat. From my experience, if you’re going to commit to being successful in one particular thing (and I mean fully commit), then at some point it is going to go horribly wrong.

At the point where it does go wrong, if you’re not 100% committed to seeing the idea through and achieving success, you’ll more than likely give up, lick your wounds and move onto the next big idea or project. You may even decide to put your hand in your pocket, buy something else and hope to achieve success with that.

This is one of the hardest lessons you have to master if you want success in business. You need to commit and tell yourself that no matter what, you’re going to stay the distance. NO MATTER WHAT!

Make a list of the reasons why you want to accomplish a particular goal. Maybe even put a picture of your goal next to your workstation, and every time you reach the point of capitulation, take a short break and then come back and focus on the reason WHY you are doing what you’re doing.

  1. You need to set out a plan of exactly what you want and how you will achieve it

I want to be rich …..

I want to be successful ….

I want a bigger house ….

I want to provide a better way of life for my family ……

Ok, these are all admirable and amazing goals, BUT … how are you going to achieve them?

Have you ever actually sat down and taken the time to plan out exactly how you will achieve your goal?

Let me tell you now, NOBODY is going to do it for you.

Without a clear plan for achieving your goals, how will you know if you’re making progress? If you don’t have a plan, how do you know if you’re heading in the right direction? If you don’t have a plan, how do you know that you’ve actually achieved what you set out to do?

If you’re really serious about achieving your goal, you MUST make a plan.

There’s no time like the present, so turn off all the distractions, block out all the noise and start planning your future. It doesn’t have to be pretty – there’s no need to use fancy computer programs or apps if you don’t want to, simply grab a pen and paper and start writing.

Having a goal or dream is the easy part – we all have them. But the people who have achieved their goals have done so by having a plan. Knowing HOW to get what you want, is the part of the puzzle that most people miss out – and that’s why they fail to achieve their goal.

  1. So now you have a plan – what comes next?

There’s a great saying that’s been assigned to former United States President, Harry S. Truman “Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction” – and it’s true! However the real lesson here is that NOBODY is perfect at anything when they first try it.

The only way you’re going to get better and take your first step to achieving your goal is to actually start. Don’t let fear get in your way and stop you from achieving the success in business you desire.

Whether you’re going to launch your own product, set up your own business, or master SEO, you need to take those first steps and actually start doing the things that will make this happen.

You can read all the books in the world, watch 1,000 video tutorials, or pay for high-end coaching but unless you implement what you have learned – all you’re doing is wasting your time and your money.

I’m going to tell you who is the BEST coach on the planet.

Now listen carefully because it’s probably the last person you expect.

The best coach on the planet is …..

Think about it … you teach yourself new things every single day. You’ve been teaching yourself how to do things since the day you were born. There is no substitute in the world for EXPERIENCE.

To gain experience you simply have to start and eventually, over time, what was initially a difficult task will soon become second nature. After all, you weren’t born being able to walk and talk were you?

  1. You need to take accountability for your actions

People aren’t born with a sense of personal accountability. It’s something that we learn as we go through life. Of course, some of us are better at it than others, BUT if you want to succeed in turning your goals and dreams into reality, you have to take accountability for your actions.

How do you do this?

You MUST take ownership of what happens as a result of the choices and actions that you take. Stop blaming others or making excuses when something goes wrong. When something goes wrong, simply accept that it has, and then find ways to make it right, and to stop it from happening again.

And put an end to procrastination. We’re all guilty of it. Procrastination is the easiest way to avoid responsibility.  But this “why do today what I can put off until tomorrow?” attitude is totally the wrong kind of attitude to have, if you want to achieve success in business.

Ensure that any task you start has a clearly defined completion time attached to it. Time management is key.  To help me to do this I use Asana and assign a ‘time stamp’ to all tasks for myself and my team, which must be adhered to.

You’ll be able to manage your time better if you get into the habit of keeping to a strict schedule. Make your targets achievable, but don’t give yourself weeks to do something if it can be done in a few days. Stay focused on your goal.

  1. Be aware that success won’t happen overnight

We’ve all heard stories where success seems to have come overnight.  Let me tell you that behind every success story, there is a lot of hard work. But more than that … not only is it going to be hard work, it’s not going to happen overnight.

Are you mentally prepared for that? Ask yourself the following questions.

  • Are you prepared to work consistently on one goal or project. Are you willing to forego your daily fix of brand new shiny objects or constant input from social media, or whatever else it is that distracts you away from your goal?
  • Are you prepared to put in hours of work, with very little or even no reward at all, while you build your business and work towards your goal?
  • Are you ready to make sacrifices to achieve your goals?

As with anything in life, there are NO guarantees. However, if you answered YES to all of the above questions, and you’re willing, no determined, to stick to your chosen path and succeed no matter what, then you’re already way ahead of 95% of the population.

And that is the secret to success in business.

Defining the future of DropMock: What I learned from my recent trip to Manila

DropMock : Future of DropMock

To say that the last week has been one of the most exciting and productive weeks I’ve ever had since I began working online is a bit of an understatement. I’ve just traveled over 6000 miles to meet my team in Manila – 6662 to be exact – in order to get a clearer picture of the future of DropMock.

Taking DropMock to the next level

During my visit to Manila, not only did I get the chance to meet the talented individuals who’ve helped me to take DropMock to the next level, but I’ve now got a much clearer picture of exactly where I want to take it.

Meeting these people also confirmed for me that having the team altogether in one office, rather than working remotely, has been the right decision for my business. Being able to plan the next year of DropMock development is definitely so much easier in person.

Plus, having all the designers, photographers, videographers and support staff altogether in one place means that we can speed up the company growth ten times faster than we would be able to do if they were working independently.

So what came out of the DropMock Development meeting?

Well, let’s just say it’s mind boggling! Prepare to be amazed by what you’re going to be able to do with the platform. I’m not going to share our plans just yet but  … WATCH THIS SPACE!

Guest speaker at DigiStrats Mastermind Event

In addition to meeting the team in person, I was also invited to speak at the 3-day DigiStrats Mastermind Event about how to ‘create, acquire and sell 6-figure and 7-figure online ventures’. Being involved in such an event really opened my eyes to just how many people are moving into the online business market. What’s more, getting to share a stage with such amazingly talented and passionate people was not just fun but a privilege.

And there’s more …..

My first ever DropMock Facebook Livestream

As I develop my online business I’m learning all kinds of new skills, including hosting my first-ever Facebook Livestream.

Now to say it was perfect would be a total lie …..

we had connection issues …

we lost sound …

and I had to finish the stream early when one of my team indicated I needed to wrap it immediately as there was a problem in the office that required my urgent attention.

Did all this put me off? Not at all!

There’s rarely, if ever, been a time when I’ve done something perfectly at the first attempt, but what I do know is that I’ll keep on doing what I’m doing until I get pretty damn close!

You know the old saying ‘practice makes perfect’ .. so watch out for more Facebook Livestreams coming your way soon.

Takeaways from my Manila trip

Looking back on my week – what were my takeaways?

  • While working remotely is great, nothing can make up for being in the same room with your team for collaborating and bouncing ideas off each other.
  • The opportunities for making a lot of money from online business ventures continue to grow, with more and more people becoming involved.
  • If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again … and eventually I’ll be able hold a perfect Facebook Livestream event.

BUT – the best moment of the entire week was when I jumped on another two planes to travel the 6662 miles back home to see the Number 1 team that I do all this for …. my beautiful wife and kids!

7 quick social media marketing tips

DropMock: Social media marketing tips

Are you considering using social media to market your business? Have you already set up a Facebook or Twitter account, but you’re not sure how to make the most of it? If so, read on for 7 quick social media marketing tips to help you to grow your online presence.

  1. Create a social media marketing plan

Before you start any marketing via social media platforms take time to pull together a social media marketing plan. Creating a strategy will set you up for success and limit the amount of mistakes you make. If you’re really struggling to develop a strategy yourself, maybe it’s time to call in some expert help.

  1. Carry out a social media audit

Prior to creating a new social media profile, take a look at what you’re currently presenting to the world. Is your brand, logo and online presence consistent? Does it represent your message well? Assess your existing social media profiles to see whether they’re still relevant to the image you want to portray.

  1. Engage with your audience

Simply having a presence on social media is not enough. If there is nothing to engage your audience, pretty soon they’ll stop visiting your pages, or unsubscribe from your account completely. You need to be proactive, listen to your followers, and publish engaging posts on a regular basis.

  1. Choose the time you post

While it’s not an exact science, when it comes to the best time to publish your posts, data analytics company, SumAll, suggests that there are optimum times to publish on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumbler.

  1. Ensure you deliver the right message to the right platform

Each of the social media platforms perform a different role and draw different audiences. Therefore understanding these roles and audiences is a key factor in putting together and executing an effective marketing plan. For example, perhaps Instagram or Pinterest is not the best place to promote your accountancy firm, but would be the ideal choice for a creative company.

social media marketing tips image 1

In general, Twitter users like to see attached images, while users of Facebook will read posts accompanied by photographs. Therefore, being able to create good quality images via tools such as DropMock, is of utmost importance. Testing each of your social media platforms will help you to see which kind of posts your audience prefer.

  1. Don’t rely on organic search-engine optimisation alone

If you’re relying on organic search-engine optimisation as the only means to gain traffic, you may find that you’re not getting the results you expected. While this method has the advantage of being free, if you want to get ahead, sometimes you have to pay for results. Pay-per-click strategies using Google Adwords are likely to yield instant results; plus all the major social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, offer opportunities to purchase ad space.

  1. If you’re a business, you should be on LinkedIn

If you want to gain credibility in the business world, signing up to LinkedIn is a must. Not only will it give you the credibility you need, but it will connect you with a network of professionals and offer opportunities for sales via a proven marketing platform.

We hope you have enjoyed reading our 7 quick social media marketing tips and that they help you to grow your online presence. For more hint tips and updates from the Dropmock Team please join our Newsletter for regular updates.
